Anything underwater is possible at Pro-Dive January 2008

Happy New Year

I hope you had a great new years eve party, plus you are looking forward to an amazing new year. I try not to make resolutions, instead I prefer promises to myself that I will improve upon the last years events-(so long as I have a great time).

2007 is now a distant memory and we are eagerly looking forward to 2008 being a very good year-

It will be a very busy year with quite a lot of new events planned for this coming year-
The finishing touches will be put in place for the dive centre. We have getaways planned for
Santo in Vanuatu, diving the President Coolidge, a trip to Lissenung island out of Kavieng in Papua New Guinea, then a long weekend to the Great Barrier reef in June followed by a trip to dive the awesome waters around Sipidan island off Borneo.

I have also been in contact with quite a few people who are keen to come along to our club nights and entertain you. The dive boats are busy taking members diving and I am trying to get a few more events organised this year that will entice you back into the water.

Come in and have a cuppa whilst you look over our trip info to decide which dive trip you will join us on.

There are still a few days left to grab a bargain in the Aquanaut sale, come in and check out the exciting dive gear we have on offer.

PS. An extra special e-newsletter special for all our readers

2. Traineeship program

What do you see
for your future?

Let me ask you a
couple of questions.

1. Are you still working the "same old-same old"
2. Do you want to try something completely different?
3.  Do you want to travel?
But need a job you can walk into fairly easily?
4. Do you like warm tropical areas, love diving in clear water?
5. What about a dive career right here in Australia?
6. What about a dive career right here on the Central Coast?

It may not be tropical, with clear water, every day of the year. But I'm sure paradise also has a couple of bad days...

Maybe it's about time you started to think about your career, maybe even a seachange to somewhere else in this vast world of ours....

Australia is not the "Be all to end all"

We are offering you the opportunity to make just that change, loosen those ties to your usual dull job and pursue your dreams.

Many of our previous candidates have realised their potential and are working and living at resorts like Badarra Island, Great Keppel Island, Heron Island, Lord Howe Island, Bali, Samoa, Indonesia, Thailand and of course, the Great Barrier reef.

Trainees have also joined the dive industry and opened their own dive outlets at some of the best locations, even here on the East coast of Australia.

Don't restrict yourself to just Australia, Asia is only a plane ride away. So are the South pacific nations.
You too, have this same opportunity starting right now!

I have tabled the new program that begins soon.
We can adjust the timetable below to suit your busy lifestyle, perhaps you want to start at an earlier or even a later date- You can also join onto the program at your level of training or join in when you have the time.

The choices are endless.

Don't be misled-Dive centres may advertise a cheaper program but our costs are all inclusive as course requirements.

You will certainly need all your own approved personal dive equipment, which if you prefer you can purchase on No deposit 12 months interest free options.

3. Specialty of the month               Underwater Photography

Underwater Photography

This course is not only designed for the beginner, as most photographers will enjoy learning these easy skills on taking good underwater photos.

Taking underwater photos the correct way is easy, fun and rewarding.

Learning to avoid bad framing and exposure problems is the main focus of this course.

Learning the use of lighting types, your shots will improve to a level of delight to show to your friends and eventually even enter into photo competitions.

You will need to supply your own camera or hire cameras can be arranged for an additional cost.

We will even print your photo on quality photo paper so you will have photos to take home straight away to show your family and friends.

An underwater camera is almost a necessity for every scuba diver. There is a multitude of cameras on the market- Using our expertise, you will have the information to make an informed decision when purchasing your underwater camera system.

We have several videos and DVDs on Underwater Photography and after completing the knowledge reviews on Underwater Photography from your Adventures in Diving Manual, you will be well prepared for the two theory sessions to gain your Underwater Photographer rating.

Check out Project AWAREs' advice to underwater photographers.

12. Handy hints

Photo techniques

1. Fill the frame entirely with your subject, this will make a terrific difference to your photos.
Why does this work?
With less clutter in the image, there's less to draw the eye away from the main subject of your photo.

2. Use the Optical Zoom of your camera to get a close up shot.
Why does this work?
Allows you to have a big area condensed to the subject in mind.

3. Fill the frame with your subject's FACE only - particularly if they are smiling or are in a moment of reflection.
Why does this work?
If you can't get close enough when you're taking the shot, you can zoom in later using photo editing software - crop out everything except the subject's face and see what a difference it makes.

Enjoy your photography
