Jervis bay Getaway
February 27th and 28th, 2021
Jervis Bay has something for every diver, the Bay itself, is a large safe harbour protected by towering stone cliffs on the sea side that sink deep into the ocean. There are underwater cliffs and cracks, drop-offs and large caves to explore with abundant underwater life.
Visibility at Jervis Bay averages at around 15 to 20 metres throughout the year mainly due to this part of the coastline, being so close to the continental shelf that pushes clear water up from the deep ocean.
On each dive you will enjoy the beautiful untouched sponge gardens, where you can find all sorts of marine creatures like; nudibranchs, sea spiders, Weedy Sea Dragons and pipefish which are endemic to the region, along with pygmy leatherjackets, Basket stars, Vermillion biscuit stars, Red Indian fish, blue Gropers, Weedy Sea Dragons and yellow seahorses, to name a few!
You will also see many large schools of fish and if you are very lucky; a variety of sharks plus vast numbers of soft corals, anemones and fans.
To further whet your appetite for diving Jervis bay, there is a permanent seal colony breeding north and south of the heads. The seals stay around due to the abundant marine life streaming from multiple marine sanctuaries with a vast national park in the area.
You can always visit the pure white sandy beaches at Green Patch which hosts a fantastic, healthy marine ecosystem in calm, tranquil waters.
There are two boats for you to dive from depending on the number of divers:
“Avalon” is a ten metre catamaran, makes a very stable diving platform.
Boasts a dry cabin area and large sun canopy.
Comfortably accommodates thirteen divers and two crew.
“Genesis” is an eight metre mono hull
Gets you to the dive site efficiently and in comfort.
