SSI´s Extended Range Tech programs form a bridge between Recreational Diving and Technical Diving. They are designed to allow you, the recreational diver, the chance to enter the exciting world of Extended Range diving without necessarily having to dramatically change your existing diving philosophy. These Technical programs simply enhance and build upon your existing knowledge. They provide the components that will allow you to use the different gases, new equipment and skills necessary to complete limited decompression schedules.
This program provides the knowledge and experience required to conduct limited penetration dives into wreck overhead environments. You will learn how to use specialized buoyancy and finning techniques, lay safety line, and the proper use of lights, while wearing a standard or Extended Range equipment configuration. You will earn the SSI Advanced Wreck Diving Specialty certification after completing this program.
This program provides the knowledge and experience required to independently plan and conduct limited decompression dives to a maximum depth of 40 meters, using nitrox mixtures up to 50%. This entry-level program introduces you to the Extended Range training techniques and skills, and can be completed wearing a standard single-cylinder equipment configuration. You will earn the SSI Extended Range Nitrox Diving certification after completing this program.
This program teaches the skills and concepts required to safely blend nitrox and helium-based trimix blends for mixed-gas diving. This is a non-diving program that is open to certified and uncertified divers, and teaches the mathematics, physics and techniques required to safely blend breathing gases. You will earn the SSI XR Gas Blender certification.
The intent of the SSI Extended Range Foundations program is to provide divers with a workshop environment, to improve their skills to a high level using Extended Range Total Diving Systems and procedures.
